Kappa Kappa Gamma and UNC Family Weekend partner to benefit
FRIENDS & the Carolina Parents Fund!
CHAPEL HILL, NC- (September 1, 2010) The Epsilon Gamma Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma and UNC’s Family Weekend is gearing up for the 12th annual “Tar Heel Trot.” This year, the 5K will be held on Sunday, October 10th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. as a special Family Weekend event to benefit Kappa Kappa Gamma’s local philanthropy, Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test® and the Carolina Parents Fund.
FRIENDS FOR AN EARLIER BREAST CANCER TEST®, also known as Friends...You Can Count On® is the only 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization in the United States focused exclusively on funding research to find a biological earlier detection test for breast cancer.
The Carolina Parents Fund enables the Division of Student Affairs to provide a wide range of opportunities for students to expand their education beyond the classroom, helping to provide real world experiences and promote healthy lifestyles that can be utilized long after they leave Carolina. The Fund also enables the Office of New Student & Carolina Parent Programs to continue to keep our parents and family members informed of ongoing campus activities.
The Tar Heel Trot will begin at the Old Well with an online $15 registration fee. With this fee, runners will not only contribute to Friends and the Carolina Parents Fund directly, but will also receive a special runner’s t-shirt designed by the ladies of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
